Another slap-me-kiss-me day of thunderstorms followed by madly passionate sunshine. Thankfully, I was never too far from shelter as today was all about... bridges.
Like London, Paris is a city with two souls: one that changes, flitting and and fadding, through the ages, and the other a river. With a river comes bridges, and, again like London, these are among the city's most inspiring sights. I figured I'd photograph a few. Somehow, in the course of squelching along the Seine river path as storm after storm wet-socked the hell out of me, this resolve hardened into photographing as many damn bridges as I could find. I got to twentysomething bridges (of total 37) before my feet started complaining that they were part of me, you know, and had feelings too. Those remaining 17 bridges? I'll be back.
Bird's-eye view of graffiti on the safety rail of the riverside walkway where it passes the Tuileries Garden. Just don't ask how I got this shot without falling in. It was most... unladylike. 75001 Paris. Lexia Snowe, 2020
After sulking all morning, the sun finally rocks up, glinting through the latticework in the underbelly of the Pont Alexandre III. Lexia Snowe, 2020
My favorite of all the bridges I saw. This is the Pont au Double, which links the 4th and 5th arrondissements of Paris, from the Île de la Cité (on the right of the river in this shot) to the Quai de Montebello (on the left). Lexia Snowe, 2020
